NorCalFlex and Our Recruiting Policy
The question has come to me a few times in the last couple of meetings about recruiting at the NorCalFlex meetings, or having us post jobs on the website. This post will explain our policy, so please read if you plan on soliciting jobs at the meetings, want to announce your position or would like us to post it on the site.
User group meetings are a great place to network. Many of us have found jobs or new employees at the meetings. That being said, what you do before or after the meetings is up to you, as long as you are not offending or irritating other members.
Recruiters are not welcome at our meetings. This means that if your primary reason for coming to NorCalFlex meetings is to recruit you will be asked to leave and not return. However, if you are at the meetings to truly learn and participate, we welcome that you announce your Flex/AIR jobs or talk to members about positions you have open. We will not announce or post non-Flex based positions. The job description must be Flex or AIR developer. "PHP Developer with Flex experience" is not a job announcement we will accept. Other user groups have had a problem with this and we have been advised to keep a strict policy on this so we are not wasting member's time.
Recruiting companies who wish to post Flex/AIR jobs on the website must provide an accurate job description which is Flex/Air specific. At this time, because we have not yet filed for status as a non-profit with the federal government, we cannot accept payment for these postings. Please be advised that this may change in the future as it is an excellent way for the group to generate revenue to pay for events.
If you have any suggestions on our policies please let me know!
